With
over 35 years in the music industry behind him, soulful
vocalist, bassist extraordinaire & multi-instrumentalist Kim
"Kimbo" Reichley is perhaps one of the most well-known and
best-loved musicians & studio engineers in central PA, although
his musical career has taken him across the country and to the
farthest reaches of China. While the electric bass is his
primary instrument in his beloved band,
The Blind Chitlin Kahunas, Kimbo is also
very comfortably at home on acoustic guitar, mandolin, dobro and
upright bass ... and he performs often as a solo act or in duos
with talented friends Bryan Noaker or outlaw country boy Frank
Wicher.
Over the years, Kimbo has performed or recorded with
(most notably) electric
violinist David Rose ('85-'94), The Front Porch Country Band (US
& China tours), Daddy-O & The Sax Maniax, Frank Wicher, Bryan
Noaker, Aztec Bronze, Brothers & Others, Voyage, Ann Kerstetter,
Don Krech, Averie Clark and countless other regional friends. He
has also appeared on stage with the likes of Randy Travis, The
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, The Brooklyn Bridge, EG Kight and more.
Kimbo originally built his recording studio just for
himself, to record his own music ... but it wasn't long before
others started demanding his talent as a recording engineer. His
laid-back, "no pressure" approach to recording has won the
loyalty of almost every artist to ever record at his studio.
Some of Kimbo's favorite listening music includes
Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat, Delbert McClinton, Keb Mo, Mavis
Staples, Johnny Winter and Harry Manx, to name only a few.
Kimbo's musical tastes cover every genre of music, with a
particular fondness for blues, bluegrass, folk, R&B, soul and
funk ... especially when they're all mixed together, with
artists such as Little Feat.
As for some of Kimbo's favorite things in life? A good
song, a great singer, Dogfish Head 60Min IPA ale, hot wings,
spicy chili, saucy ribs & BBQ ... and layin' down the groove
with his beloved Kahunas. He's also an avid kayaker & cyclist,
when he's not enjoying sitting in with musical friends at a
local pub or experimenting with culinary treats in the kitchen.
Kimbo makes his home outside of quaint Lewisburg, PA (adjacent
to his studio) with his wife Dena and their two
pooches, Sadie & Josie.
